Purpose of the role
To cast and shape metal pieces, testing boilers and maintain the operation of boilers to match the needs of the environment and their customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and install boilers, tanks, and other metal structures according to engineering specifications.
- Maintain and repair existing equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns.
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine materials and procedures for fabrication.
- Perform various welding techniques to join metal components and ensure structural integrity.
- Conduct tests and inspections to identify and correct any defects or issues in the equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
- Collaborate with other team members and engineers to improve processes and designs.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with pure Mathematics and Physical Science
- Trade Test Certificate Boilermaker / Plater / Welder
- 5 years’ post apprentice experience withing the mining industry
- Minimum of 3 years previous TMM experience (open pit / underground).
- Underground mining experience will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge in the maintenance, repairs and fault finding.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Planning and control of maintenance schedules as per SAP PM.
- Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License.
- Computer literacy – MS Office Suite.
- Successfully obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground.
